Family Law Support - Certified Family Life Educators (CFLE)

Parenting Partnerships, Inc. provides family life education
that strengthens and stabilizes family relationships.

Collaborative Law is a form of dispute resolution which removes the "win at all costs" approach from divorce or ongoing custody issues. In this process, parties and their attorneys contractually agree at the outset to settle their disputes without going to court. Spouses avoid lengthy and costly "discovery" by agreeing to disclose and exchange all information required to make sensible and fair decisions. The result is a less expensive, less emotionally destructive, more dignified divorce for families.

Divorce and separation can be difficult even under the most amicable of circumstances. The family suffers loss - the loss of "family" as once known - possibly the loss of two incomes - possibly the loss of the family home - the loss of extended family members and possibly family friends (for those who have taken sides) - the loss created by shared parenting.

Collaborative team members are experts in the protocols of collaborative process. They also understand the pain involved in separation and divorce. Ending a relationship is difficult, no matter how amicable the process. There are many personal and financial decisions to make at a time when emotions are fragile. Even though the decision to separate or divorce may be a good decision in the long term, during the transition from "We" to "I" both parties grieve the loss of what was defined as family. It may be tempting to give into emotions rather than keep a cool head and collaborate with the person you feel caused the pain. The collaborative process provides the support families need to restructure and restabilize during the divorce.

Parenting Partnerships, Inc. Certified Family Life Educators (CFLE) are trained as Collaborative Law Allied Professionals to assist the Collaborative Team. The CFLE with Collaborative Law training has the qualifications to facilitate communication, assist in developing a parenting plan, and provide services as a family or child specialist and has the skills to work both online and offline with all parties involved in the process.
